30% OFF Everything in the Shop! HUGE Early Christmas Sale!
The patent was applied for on Dec. 20,1943 and was granted on Feb. 8, 1944. The inventor of record is Alfred Philippe and the patent number is 137,200.
The brooch measures 2" wide x 1 7/8" tall x 5/8" deep and is in excellent condition. The detailing of the body and especially the appendages, antennae and face are unbelievable! This pin has a beautiful soft, aged patina. It is unusual in that it does not have rhinestones like many of Trifari's flies- it has raised silver bumps instead. I have never seen one like it! The stone is bezel set and is a black glass or onyx cabochon measuring approx. 16mm across. The pin back is a locking clasp which works perfectly.
Marks: TRIFARI with a crown; DES. PAT. NO. 137,200.
