We are offering this very beautiful 90-100 year old floral Nippon charger, 10" in diameter and brilliant with gold beads and gilt rim.
Lovely shades of white and pink daisy type flowers are painted with a background of green leaves and shadows of forest trees.
Buds as well as full bloom blossoms comprise the floral. A gold ring of moriage beads adorns the edge of the design and dips down into medallions of gold beads. The very edge of the charger is done in a very light green that compliments the design. The back has factory formed holes for hanging.
Stunning piece, perfect for the Nippon collector or the flower lover. Marked hand painted with maple leaf with Nippon under the leaf. No chips, no cracks or crazing on this antique charger.
Nippon is generally referred to as the years between 1891 and 1920, when imported products were first required to carry the name of the country of origin. Nippon is the Japanese word for Japan. After 1920 the requirement would be changed to require the country name be in English words
Charger can be seen in Jean Dixon's Collector's Encyclopedia of Nippon Porcelain, 3rd Series on page 179
