Nippon Mustard Pot, Hand Painted, Morimura Mark,1891 to 1918

Hand painted wild roses adorn this small mustard pot with spoon, pink roses with green leaves make up the design and this 6 sided little pot is just charming. From my own collection of these small pots, long before I even knew what they were. This sweet pot is accented in small moriage dots in white on a dark blue geometric with a gold design around the very top of the pot and on the lid. Fine gold accents lines compliment the design on both pieces. The tiny spoon is accented with a gold scroll design. The pot measures 2 1/2" across the bottom and stands 3" tall to the top of the lid finial. A six sided design the pot and lid show a slightly blown out pattern in the mold. The spoon is slightly curved to follow the inside of the jar and measures 3 1/2" long. I think this is an individual mustard pot but it could be a child's.However, it does show signs of use. The piece shows no signs of crazing and there are no chips or cracks on the pot or spoon.
