Marked hand painted Nippon with the flower in a circle , this hand painted large pitcher with out an ice lip is attractive and eye catching. Typical of the items made by this company. The mark dates the pot to pre 1921 when items were not required to be marked with the country of origin in English words. The base of the pot is done in shaded brown . Light and dark violets are painted on a cream background, and green leaves show amongst the blossoms. The top rim is outlined in gold and paint trim. A large pitcher, 6" high by 7 1/2" wide, from spout to handle , the pot is not without flaws, which I did not notice until I took the pictures . There is a stress crack, about 1"1/2 long on the inside of the pot(it does not go through to the other side.) The bottom shows a stress mark that does not continue to the inside. There are two or three manufacturing flaws, tiny but there under the glaze. In spite of the flaws the pot displays handsomely and would be a nice addition to any Nippon collection at a very reasonable price.
