These pastille burners were made to ward off the unpleasant odors that was part of the towns and cities, due to unsanitary conditions. This cottage has an octagon shaped thatched roof with the chimney in the center. The colors are all great with only the minor loss of color to the points on the roof rim and the base of the figurine.
There are no repairs or chips to this very early, English Staffordshire figurine. The ‘coleslaw’ decoration around the chimney, in the garden by the front door and on the facing roof edge, are all also in good order with no breaks or missing pieces. This small Staffordshire item display beautifully, and would be a very nice addition to a collection.
