English Burl Walnut Box with Drawer

This is a gorgeous 19th Century English burl walnut box with mother-of-pearl escutcheon and an inlay on the box's lid. The burl walnut patina is rich and handsome. It is a striking box.

Opening the lid reveals a interior compartment painted black. At the back of the box one only has to press down on a metal pin releasing the drawer which is located at the bottom of the box. Pushing the drawer back in locks it into place.

This is a beautiful example of English box-making craftsmanship.
