Victorian Box with Burr Walnut and Geometric Inlays

This is a beautiful English Victorian 19th Century box and an excellent example of a Burr Walnut veneered box with geometric inlay. The top box and key hole escutcheons are made of mother-of-pearl. We do have the key to this lovely box.

The inside of the box has been lined with a black paper and on the right side, inside the box, there is a brass pin. When the pin is removed, the "locked" drawer opens as seen on the outside on the right side of the box. Many boxes from this era had secret drawers where jewelry or documents would be safe.

This gorgeous box measures 12" wide; 9" wide; and 6 3/4" high.
