This is the complete six volume set Familiar Wild Flowers by Frederick Edward Hulme, First Series, C. 1870, published by Cassell and Company, London. Hulme (1841 - 1909) was a naturalist and artist, and this set of books is one of the finest examples of Victorian botany as every flower that Hulme describes is accompanied with a full page color drawing. There are more than 240 full-page color drawings of as many flowers in this first series.

The books are bound in green leather with gold lettering and tooling on the spines. All of the books are in very good condition with no marks or scratches. The bindings are perfect. The text block in each volume is complete, and all of the pages are clean and free of marks. There is browning on the first end page of each book, but there is no foxing evident in any of the books. They are in marvelous condition.

The more than 200 full color drawings of the flowers are printed on a smoother and thicker paper than the text pages. All of the drawings are intact, clean and free of any marks.

This is an amazing set of books by one of the most well-known English Victorian naturalists and artists.
