Glass : Lightning Rod Ball

 

Here is an antique lightning rod ball of light purple milk glass. It measures approximately 5" from collar to collar, and about 5" across.

There is a bit of chipping around one of the collars, and there is rust around one, too, all typical of balls that were actually used at one time. Please see photographs.

These were decorative for lightening rods on barns and farmhouses from the mid 1800's.
