Here's a dramatic color way of deep orange, forest green, dark navy blue and tangerine on a pale yellow ground with a white border with a traditional cornucopia, or Horn of Plenty, the uber popular motif of the season.

Has a paper label on the back that says:

"Historic Quilt Designs No. 31 "Cornucopia" The cornucopia ...theme of the last century was created ...colorful variations. Berggren Originals Berggren Trayner Corporation, Libertyville, Illinois"

This tile is not dated; we have another from 1972 which is numbered 169, leading us to believe this is either from the earlier 1970s, or even the 1960s as they were manufacturing before that as well. The bold colors and stylized design also lean towards 60s/70s for dating purposes.

This tile is ceramic with a felt backing; meant to be hung (has a built-in circular hanger in the felt), or it could be used as a trivet. This measures 6" square and is 1/4" thick.

The cornered edges are chippy, the design element itself is untouched and beautiful; it appears to us to be stenciled, however we've found that these are hand screened; the Berggren signature is in the bottom right hand corner.

Neat collectible with a decidedly more modern impact; many of the earlier Berggren pieces were traditional Swedish themes including roosters, dancers, tole designs and writing.
