Women's Equality Day was August 26th. Honoring our Female Ancestors Who Toiled Without Recognition & Saved Some Great Stuff!
Budd Santa Fe Rail Diesel Cars and Coca-Cola Advertising with a pretty woman.
Railroad Side: A wonderful illustration of the Santa Fe Rail Diesel Car (RBC) built by Budd, with colorful palms and great colors.
“California Takes to the Santa Fe’s RBC’s. There’s a fine highway between Los Angeles and San Diego. And the airlines provide many schedules. You’d think these conditions were hardly favorable to railway passenger business. But, a year ago the Santa Fe put two Budd RBC’s on the run and substantially increased their traffic.”
“With RBC available, the railroads are facing their passenger carrying problems with a new spirit. An aggressive spirit. They’ve found that RBC can make money in services formerly daubed with red ink. And they’ve found that the comfort and convenience of fast, frequent RBC schedules are bringing passengers back to the rails.”
“A railroad official recently termed Budd RBC ‘one of the greatest advancements in modern railroading’. More and more people are coming to agree with him. Railroad people, by buying RBC’s. Traveling people, by riding in the. The Budd Company, Philadelphia, Detroit, Gary.” “Budd Pioneers in Better Transportation.”
Coca-Cola Ad shows a fresh faced woman pausing to refresh with a soda while out driving. Notice the older style gas pump illustrated on the left. “Drive Safely...Drive Refreshed.” Date: “Copyright 1953, The Coca-Cola Company” in the bottom left corner. Size: 6 3/4" (approx.) X 10”.
Verse on Coke Ad Side: “ Here’s a good Rule of the Road, When you begin to fell tense and the steering wheel fights back, stop at the friendly Coca-Cola cooler. Pause, stretch, relax and have a Coke. In a minute or two you’re ready to drive on safely.....Because you drive refreshed.”
Condition: Two little creases on the lower corner tips. This ad was probably from National Geographic magazine. It is of a heavier paper stock. I purchased it from a dealer when in I was collecting advertising.
