Featuring Cats & Dogs: Helping our Ancestors and Us through Stressful Times . . . even when they are sitting on our keyboard.
Message: “Lincklaen, N.Y. Sept 25, 1910. Dear Rena: Here’s the place, and any time we shall be glad to see you all any time. Had a dandy time - with love to all I am your affectionate Uncle Randall.”
A little Internet research found the following: 15-year-old Rena Holl [b. 1895] lived in Cortlandville, Cortland, New York with parents Jerome [b. 1862] & Julia Holl in the 1910 U.S. Federal Census. Randall Holl [B. 1855] was living with his wife, Allie A. in Lincklaen, Chenango Co., New York in that same census. These towns match the postcard.
In 1880, a Randall Holl [25 yrs old, B.1855] lived in Lincklaen with his brother Frederick and his wife Abbe. They were a dwelling away from Thomas & Elisabeth Holl with their son Jerome [18y b.1862].
In 1870, Lincklaen US Federal Census Thomas & Elizabeth Holl lived with their children, including Frederick 16y, Randall 15y and Jerome 16y.
Uncle Randall sent his niece Rena Holl a postcard in 1910 inviting her to his home. Fun research.
