Cooking Round the Clock Cookbook for the Netherlands. Recipes: Nancy Eekhof-Stork, Deddy de Bie-Geursen and Nel van der Marel. Illustrations: Jean Cameron. Lithography: Koningsveld & Zoon bv, Wormerveer. Publication of het Nederlands Zuivel bureau. Rijswijk-ZH. 192pp. Size: 8 1/2" X 10.” Glossy red and white checked boards. In English with recipe titles in Dutch and English. Key Words: Netherlands Cookery, Netherlands Recipes.

DATING THIS BOOK: There is no date or ISBN printed in the book nor could I find one on the internet. Research at the local library revealed nothing. I found Eekhof-Stork and de Bie-Geursen names connected in 1977. Eekhof-Stork and van der Marel was also working together in 1978 I believe. I didn’t see microwave oven usage listed in the recipes. Dates on the wine bottles displayed in a couple photos: 1969 through 1974 and all dates between. Eekhof-Stork had other books in the later 1970s. The photos in this book look to be from the 1970s.

NOTE FROM BOOK:

“The English edition of ‘Cooking Round the Clock’ is primarily intended for English-speaking people living in The Netherlands. For this reason, no changes have been made in those ingredients which are only obtainable in the Netherlands. Tablespoons, dessertspoons and teaspoons referred to in the recipes are of the type commonly used in the Netherlands.”

“Since the sizes of spoons often differ from country to country, the following table gives a guide as to the capacity of Dutch spoons.” [Example: 1 Tablespoon flour equals 8 g.]

RECIPE EXAMPLES: Gevulde beschuitbollen [Stuffed rusks], Versierde dobbelsteentjes kaas [Sweet and savoury cheese snacks], Leidse groentesoep [Leiden vegetable soup], Bortsj [Cold beetroot soup], Ratjetoe [Cheese and vegetable hotchpotch], Gingercheesepudding [Ginger cheese pudding], Koude kaaspudding [Chilled cheese pudding], Garnalenpilaf [Prawn pilaff], Warme kwarkcake [Warm kwark cake], Kaiserschmarrn [Imperial pancakes], Baked Alaska, Cerises flambees, Banketbakkersroom [Confectioner’s custard], Marasquinsaus [maraschino sauce], Nogakrans [Praline ring], Opgerolde koek [Swiss roll], Janhagel [Candy crisp], Mail nderli [almond fingers] and much more.

CONDITION: The bottom edge of the spine is slightly slanted. The corner tip [back cover] has some [˝”] of the glossy coating/covering pulling away. Perfume smell to the book. The pages are tanning a bit around the edges. Five pages, starting at P.148, are bent at the upper right corners.

You will have to do some reconfiguring on some of the recipes measurements, may have to find some ingredients on the internet and probably do some substituting. The book would be a wonderful addition to your collection and will surely be the only example around your neighborhood!

Optional insurance.
