1988 Rothchild Childhood Classics Betsy McCall Doll 8"

This is a 1986 Rothchild 8" Betsy McCall Doll that was sold by Childhood Classics in 1988 She is the 35th Anniversary Doll manufactured for only seven months July 1986-December 1986. Childhood Classics acquired the remaining stock of dolls and sold them. Each doll had a numbered hang tag and this doll has her ribbon bow paper hang tag with the number #3420. She is Betsy McCall Goes to Her Birthday Party/ Yellow. She is a jointed hard plastic doll with jointed knees, sleep eyes, strung limbs, and a brunette wig. To my eye, her hard plastic head has "yellowed" just a bit but not on the sides of her face nor up under her bangs. That area is still the hard plastic color. Her yellow Birthday dress has the Rothchild tag dated 1986. The front of the dress bib collar has aged tan a bit in color but the rest of her outfit is crisp and clean. She has never been played with and appears to have spent her days in the cylinder. The see through plastic cylinder dolls were sold at the Region 4 Conference in Omaha NE according to Marie Van Ausdall in her book Betsy McCall A Collector's Guide page 87. You could also order a mohair baby pet animal and straw skimmer hat as a free bonus and this Betsy has her yellow duck. She comes with tons of paper including Letter of Authenticity from Childhood Classics signed by Mimi Roth, accordion fold out Betsy McCall brochure, bill of sale, Childhood Classics discount letter, free bonus certificate, Childhood Classics Collectors Club promotional letter, and she comes in her clear plastic cylinder container. I believe she is probably a rare doll at this point and one to have if you document Betsy McCall dolls. She comes with everything. And she is in great clean unplayed with condition as well.
