Terrific Early Plastic and Open Sterling German Pin

I love this pin! It is a lovely vintage piece from Germany that dates prior to the erection of the Berlin Wall.

The materials used to create this piece are sterling silver and I believe some type of early plastic made to imitate shell.

I ran the piece under hot water and it did produce a light chemical smell. Anyway, it is a gorgeous piece, and the open sterling silver is just exquisite!

The image is a sunflower, with lots of detailing and lovely swirly leaves. Measures just over 1&1/2", and it fastens with an early roll-over catch. Excellent condition. Total weight: 11.7 grams. Stamped "Western Germany."
