This is a very old pin designed in the classic shape of a bow with buckle.

The piece is beautifully made, with realistic, soft detailing. There is slight denting on the upper right ribbon, but it otherwise in very good shape for its age. Still very wearable! I would guess it dates from about circa 1870 .

Fastens with the old "C" clasp. Hardware still very secure. Back of pin shows some wear; oxidization has occurred due to age. Could be an old repair--not sure. Could use a cleaning.

Measures 2" across by 1&1/4" tall. Total weight: 8.2 grams. Not marked but acid tests as sterling silver.
