1948 Sterling Silver Compact by Volupte

This sterling silver compact was surely a special Christmas gift. The back is engraved "To Mary from Pete 12-25-48". The front of the compact has a textured strip design with an initial "M" monogrammed in the center section. While the case is marked sterling, I'm not sure if all of the interior pieces are sterling, but the outside certainly is. The goldish stripes in the in the pic are an optical illusion from the camera, the do not appear in real life.

The compact measures approx 3" x 3" and is in good but used condition. The mirror is original to the piece. The powder compartment has held loose powder and there is some wear to the cover that holds the powder in, this piece does not appear to be sterling as I can see some other base metal when looking at it under magnification. The center panel is marked Volupté, USA. All the latches close tightly and open as intended. The powder puff is missing.
