Kingsley Enamels Hand Painted Siamese Cat Trinket Box

These beautiful little boxes are very collectible and are a revival of a three centuries old craft of enameling over copper, most well known from the Bilston and Battersea areas of England. The boxes were originally produced for the aristocracy as toys or bibelots to hold beauty marks (patches), sweets (breath fresheners), or snuff. Today they are used as trinket boxes, pill boxes, or just collected as beautiful small objects of art.

This particular tiny enameled box was produced by Kingsley Enamels of Worcestershire, England. The company had an illustrious history of fine metal and enamel work spanning from1904 until they were acquired by Moorcroft in 1998, and renamed Moorcroft Enamels. Moorcroft closed their enamel production in 2006.

This little box measures only 1.25" wide and .75" tall. The base is a gorgeous dark blue enamel over copper. The bezel is 22K gold plated brass. The beautiful portrait of a Siamese cat was hand painted and is marked as such on the base under the Kingsley logo. The box is in perfect condition and comes in its original black box with blue satin lining. There is also included an insert detailing the history of English Enamels. The presentation box is in excellent condition but does have a small white sticker on the underside stating PM29 in ink which was probably an inventory number.
