Tom Taber Duck Decoy Storage Box

This wonderful wooden storage box has a Tom Taber hand carved wooden duck decoy mounted on the top and Tom Taber's signature incised on the lid. There is also a gold tone medallion embedded in the lid which states National Gun Pachmayr Classic Ducks Unlimited. Tom Taber's decoys are becoming ever more valuable and quite collectible. He is known for using seasoned woods which often have blemishes that add to the character of the piece. He also uses stains instead of paint to allow the beautiful wood grains to show through. This handsome specimen appears to be a mallard drake with glass eyes. The decoy measures about 11.5" long and 4.75" high. The box base is 13" by 7". The box is 4.25" tall with an interior of 10.5" by 4.75" by 2.5" deep. There are a few dings on the box including a chip off the front bottom right corner. The base and rim of the box are painted with a dark green paint. A little Old English scratch cover furniture polish and this piece would look great. The head of the decoy is pieced to form an interesting grain pattern. Just a great gift for the decoy collector or hunter in your life.
