The UK based Harmony Kingdom began making intricate little boxes in the early 1990's. They have quickly become highly collectible. The boxes are intricate carvings by master artists made of crushed marble and resin to resemble antique ivory, then handpainted by cottage craftsmen. They later contracted for special craftsman in China to produce some lines with artists from the Martin Perry Studio. (Martin Perry was one of the original creators of Harmony Kingdom.) One such line was Lord Byron's Harmony Garden which follows the ladybug Lord Byron on his journey through life among the various flowers. In "Forget Me Not", "Lord Byron debates with Bergson the blue bug at the Forget Me Not Academy " according to the Harmony Kingdom website. Forget Me Not was carved in 1997, then released on 1/1/98 in an edition of 12816 boxes. It was retired on 4/1/2000. The dimensions of the piece are 2.95 x 2.64 x 2.24 inches. The model number is HGFM. Peony is referenced in the 9th edition Price Guide to Contemporary Collectibles and Limited editions by Mary L. Sieber. This beautiful little box comes with it's original outer box and an insert with the tale of Lord Bryon's journey through the flower garden. Excellent condition with no damage.
