Lord Byron's Harmony Garden Peony Box by Harmony Kingdom
Collectibles : Decorative Arts : Harmony Kingdom : Figurine Box
The UK based Harmony Kingdom began making intricate little boxes in 1995. They have quickly become highly collectible. The boxes are intricate carvings by master artists made of crushed marble and resin to resemble antique ivory, then handpainted by cottage craftsmen. They later contracted for special craftsman in China to produce some lines with artists from the Martin Perry Studio. (Martin Perry was one of the original creators of Harmony Kingdom.) One such line was Lord Byron's Harmony Garden which follows the ladybug Lord Byron on his journey through life among the various flowers. In "Peony", "Queen Bee invites Lord Byron to sit for high tea in the Peony Palace where he is beeknighted. Hallmarks include ©, heart, HBC logo, ed.# (this one is 1), and M. " according to the Harmony Kingdom website. Peony was carved in 1997, then released on 1/1/98 in an edition of 13,451 boxes. It was retired on 4/15/2004. The dimensions of the piece are 2.76 x 2.64 x 3.03 inches. The model number is HGPE. Peony is referenced in the 9th edition Price Guide to Contemporary Collectibles and Limited editions by Mary L. Sieber. This beautiful little box comes with it's original outer box and an insert with the tale of Lord Bryon's journey through the flower garden. Excellent condition with no damage.
