Harmony Kingdom Treasure Jest NetsUKe Tarka the Otter

The UK based Harmony Kingdom began making the Treasure Jest boxes in the early 1990's. They have quickly become highly collectible. The boxes are intricate carvings by master artists made of crushed marble and resin to resemble antique ivory. In 1999 and 2000, the Treasure Jest series was expanded to include solid figurines which were produced resembling the ancient art of highly detailed miniature figurines called netsuke. The British version is spelled NetsUKe to emphasize the United Kingdom origins. Tarka (an otter) was carved by master carver Peter Calvesbert in 1999 for release on 1/1/2000. Peter's signature mouse is peeking out of the seashell. Only 8604 were issued, then the piece was retired on 11/6/2003. The dimensions of the piece are 2.2 x 1.54 x 1.61 inches. The model number is TJNOT. Tarka is referenced in the 9th edition Price Guide to Contemporary Collectibles and Limited editions by Mary L. Sieber. Excellent condition, but no box available.
