This gorgeous French compact has a lovely pink enamel on the front and back with no damage. The center medallion is a basket of flowers. The pink is absolutely luscious and has radiating lines that add to the sparkle. I was told by one antique dealer that this is guilloche (enamel over silver), but the owner stated it was enamel with gold washed brass. Either way, this is a magnificent little compact. It is so clean I am not sure if it originally held powder or rouge. The beveled mirror is in excellent condition and held in with a beaded edge. The inside of the bowl has an engraved number which appears to be 163. On the side of the mirror casing there is another number which looks like158 or 153. There are no other markings. This piece is ca. 1920's. It measures 2" in diameter.
