Staffordshire Transferware. Beautiful early black transferware teapot with a historical view. The pattern is called "Gravesend". Unmarked. Maker is unknown to me. This dates to the early 1830s to circa 1835. Wonderful historical view of Gravesend, England with ships in the harbour. Notice the side-wheel steamboat (pic #3)? This is a hard to find pattern. The lid is the correct lid with the steam hole. Condition is good for its age with only minor damages to note. There are 3 tiny pin-point flakes on the lid (pic #4). There is a pinpoint flake on the spout (pic #5). Several small chips inside the lip that are unseen with the lid on (pic #6). Some minor discoloration can be noticed on the bottom (pic#7). All the flaws are minor and the teapot displays beautifully. Great early piece with a scarce pattern. Measures about 11" long and about 7" tall (at the extremes).
