SOLD 1830s American Historical Brown Transferware Plate
Staffordshire Transferware. Nice early brown transfer plate with an American View. The view is "Erie Canal from Buffalo" from the Lace Border Series by Ralf Stevenson(1810-1832). Marked with a printed pattern and makers initials. The piece is pre 1832 as "and Son" was added to the mark in 1832. This plate dates circa 1830. Wonderful view of the Erie Canal. Condition is very good for its age. There are 2 small edge flakes (last 2 pics) that were probably caused from a wire plate hanger. No other chips, cracks, or repairs. The plate is nice and clean with little or no wear.Nice example of a hard to find plate. Measures about 10 1/4" in diameter.
