Rare Antique Cloisonne on Silver with Carnelian and Turquoise Stones Lion Dog Candle Holders

Silver : Antique : Cloisonne Foo Dog Candle Holders

 

Offering a fabulous antique pair of cloisonne on sterling silver, lion dog candle holders. These are old China Export pieces. Each Foo Dog sits on an ornate wood stand with gold metal inlay ornamentation. The candleholders themselves measure 3 3/4" in length, 1 1/2" across and 4" in height. Each figure is completely covered with intricate and colorful enameling and studded with real turquoise and carnelian stones. On the base of each, my aunt had a paper tag with some numbers written. I peeled one off and found that the word SILVER was stamped into the base. I have not removed the other paper tag but I am sure it must have SILVER also impressed beneath it. Each lion dog has a woven silver mesh tail, banded with inlay enamel rings. The candle holders support a 1/2" diameter candle. I have examined each piece carefully and find no damage or missing stones. Amazingly beautiful and now somewhat rare, antique cloisonne work.
