I think this may a box for a gentleman as the picture on the cover is of wild ducks in a marsh. The picture is not just hand painted on, it was incised into the wet clay producing a low relief that can be felt with the fingers. The box has no chips or cracks. Lovely, original piece.

Offering a rare set of six small (3 1/2" diameter) porcelain plates, produced by Bing and Grondahl, depicting scenes from the fairy tales of Hans Christian Anderson. The back stamp indicates these plates were produced in Copenhagen between 1952 -1957. The pictures are all in pastels and feature some truly wonderful drawings. Its been a long time since I read those stories so I'm afraid the only picture I can identify is, The Red Shoes. No chips, cracks or other damage on any of the plates.
