Named after a wild woodland flower, Jack-in-the-Pulpit vases such as this one hand made at the Westmoreland Glass Company of Pennsylvania are very difficulty to make. Also known as “tulip” vases, they come in many different shapes and colors, yet each has a rim ‘collar’ that is pulled down in the front and raised at the back.

This one features a sensual shape and frosted blue color that makes it a delight to see and touch. Depending upon the lighting, the vase can be a milky sky blue, a soft Kelly blue or a frosty cornflower blue. The elegant design and color will work well with a wide range of decors, from shabby chic to country cottage and beyond.

Use this charming vase to hold fresh or dried, wild or cultivated flowers, rose buds or just to decorate a space in your home or office. It is about 6 ½” tall and 5” wide (the 6-sided base is about 3” across) and in very good vintage condition (no chips, cracks, crazing). The vase still has its original silver and black foil label that says, “Westmoreland” above a keystone with “hand made” inside the keystone and “glass” below it.

According to the Kovels, "Satin glass is a late-nineteenth-century art glass. It has a dull finish that is caused by hydrofluoric acid vapor treatment" (from their website).
