This tall candle holder features hand decorated gold roses on a white border, black details and a robin eggshell blue background with gold trim. It can be used as is or converted to a lamp. Whether used in a boudoir, powder room or garden, its classic column shape and unique design, would fit many decors, including shabby chic, country cottage and Victorian.

MARKS: blue Noritake (half circle text) over "Nippon" in straight text, register ca 1911, signed in black by "C.L. Rodemann" and dated 1921.

CONDITION: Excellent Vintage Condition (no chips, cracks, crazing or repairs), with wear to the gold and a few manufacturing variations

COLORS: bone china white, cornflower blue, gold and black flowers, and gold trim.

SIZE: about 6.25" high and 4.5” in diameter at the base.

ORIGIN: of Japanese (Asian, Oriental) derivation, most pre-WWII Noritake wares were designed by an employee of the Morimura Brothers in New York City, made and hand decorated by employees at the Nippon Toki Kaisha, Ltd. ("the Company that makes Japan's Finest China"), in Noritake, Japan for export to Western markets. This candleholder was probably imported to the USA as a blank to be hand painted by a studio artist (i.e., at Pickard China Studio) or its new owner.

Additional categories include Decorative Arts, Floral, MIJ, Japanese, and Asian.

Item ID: RL-0409
