Made in Noritake, Japan by Nippon Toki Kaisha, Ltd. in the early 20th Century, this vintage perfumer features hand painted garlands of dainty roses, a lined diaper pattern and geometric borders trimmed by gold gilt. With its bulbous genie bottle shape and original cork stopper lid, it is a highly collectible vanity item.

CONDITION: Excellent Vintage Condition (no chips, cracks or crazing).

COLORS: bone china white, gold gilding, black trim; the flower wreaths have pink & yellow roses with green leaves.

SIZE: About 5” tall to the top of its spherical cover and 3.5” in diameter at its widest point.

USES: Suitable for display, for use as a parfum bottle or bud vase; it would make a romantic gift.

MARK: “Noritaké” over the Maruki symbol (aka the Komaru symbol and spider mark), “Made in Japan” (JVP 227) mark registered in London in 1908. The antique mark was used on exports to the UK in the early 1900s.

ORIGIN: of Japanese (Asian, Oriental) derivation, most old Noritake collectibles were designed at the Morimura Brothers trading company in New York City, then made and hand decorated by employees at the Nippon Toki Kaisha, Ltd. ("the Company that makes Japan's Finest China") factory in Noritake, Japan for export to Western (Occidental) markets.

Van Patten’s "ABC’s of Collecting Nippon Porcelain” features diaper designs throughout & this blank on page 196.
