Vintage Victorian Style Rose Motif Silver Teapot Set with Large Waiter’s Tray

This romantic Oneida Park Lane tea set was made in the USA in the early 20th Century. An English Tudor rose in relief border accents the set’s classic forms. The tray is also adorned with an embossed scrolls, shells and floral pattern. Each item is marked “Oneida Silversmiths ” (aka Oneida Community Limited and Oneida Ltd. Company).

The hinged lidded pot could be used for tea or coffee. It is the centerpiece of the elegant, heavy silver plate service that includes a covered sugar bowl, creamer and a versatile waiter tray. All items have curved handles. The containers are footed, their lids have knob finials. The serving platter is about 24 1/2" from handle to handle and 15 ½” across (large enough for breakfast in bed); the pot is about 9” tall and 5” to the top of its lid; the cream pitcher is about 4.25” to the top of its handle.

The lovely tea service is substantial in size and weight, beautifully proportioned and in excellent condition. The pot has marks where the lid meets the handle when opened, yet all in all, the wear is minimal, much less than average for a vintage set.

Indeed, it looks nearly new and would make a thoughtful gift (e.g., Valentine's Day, Mother's Day or a vintage wedding). With its classic forms and rose pattern, this collectible set would fit many decors, including shabby chic, country cottage and Victorian.
