BURMAH PATTERN
W. H. Grindley and Co. Potteries
Tunstall, Staffordshire England
c. 1883
This large victorian aesthetic 16 1/2 " long x 13 " wide platter is transfer printed in rich dark chocolate brown. Shape is oval and printed on the vertical. We have never seen another made in this form and shape. Excellent.
The clear and crisp BURMAH pattern features a Japanesque water scene with water lilies and cattails, outrageous bamboo and birds, and butterflies flitting throughout the transfer. A rare bird sits among the water flowers. Geometric shapes mixed with exotic flowers complete the wonderful plate.
The pattern displays the victorian eras love of nature and travel to exotic lands.
Condition is excellent. Clean and bright and shiny. No chips, no cracks, no hairlines and no repairs.
