TONQUIN PATTERN
Edgem Malkin and Co Potteries
Burslem, Staffordshire England
c. 1883
This victorian aesthetic 9 1/4 " long x 7 1/8 " wide x 2 1/8 " tall" serving piece is transfer printed in green.
The clear and crisp TONQUIN pattern features a sunset over the water and an arching bamboo like plant embracing the scene as a miriad of shore birds fly overhead. Geometric and flower cartouches complete this excellent pattern. Transfered both inside and outside.
The pattern displays the victorian eras love of nature and travel to exotic lands.
Condition is very good. Clean and bright, with only a flake rubbed off the outside of the rim.
