Dating to c.1820-1830, this fabulous pair of earrings are truly beautiful, and make a grand statement!

I usually frown on "marriages" in antique jewelry, but this is a very rare exception! Over 180 years ago, these jewels began life as a pair of matching bracelet clasps. Over the years, the locking mechanisms either were broken or went missing, as there is a slot in the side of each of the earrings that shows the tab for the finding. However, conversion into a pair of spectacular earrings has saved this fine pair of late-Georgian jewels!

Measuring 2 1/2" long with their new, 14k leverback ear wires, this pair of earrings are true epitome of 1820s color and boldness! This was an era of bright colors, and Romantic themes in jewelry, and boy, these jewels fit both qualifications!

These earrings are crafted of pinchbeck set atop a plaque of copper-gilt. Each earring boasts a robin's-egg-blue cabochon paste measuring 1/2" x 3/8" in the center. Around this cabochon are five round cabochon pastes of 4 mm each. These gems are set in knife-edged, collet mountings. The largest cabochon is open at the back; the rest are closed.

The rest of the earring is a perfect fantasy of canetille work, textured beadwork, and golden flowers! These earrings are exceptionally crafted, and are in near-mint condition. I do not clean my antique jewelry, and these boast an all-original "bloom" that only the passing of the centuries can impart!

Together, these earrings weigh 22 grams, but are surprisingly comfortable on the ear! They are certainly glamorous; these earrings make a superb statement, and will harmonize with your other Georgian pinchbeck or paste jewelry. They will also compliment your best turquoise jewels!

If you love your antique earrings to be bold and beautiful, these fine jewels will make a wonderful and highly wearable addition to your collection! They would also make a superb holiday gift for any lady fond of the rare and wonderful in Georgian jewelry. (or better yet, treat yourself this year; you deserve it!) Either way, do not miss these superb earrings; they are priced just over my cost for the holiday season!
