Dating to ca. 200-600 AD, this splendid Pre-Columbian Nazca textile fragment is a superb example of ancient Peruvian weaving, and is matted and framed to grace any room!
The Nazca culture of coastal southern Peru flourished between 200 BCE and 850 AD. The Nazca are most famous for their skill in textile weaving, and this example from the Classical Period (250-750 AD) is a genuine treasure! Measuring 5" x 4 1/2" at the longest and widest points, this beautiful ancient textile features figures of dancing warriors separated by bands of geometric designs!
This textile is woven from fine wool in shades of dark red, dark green, brown and black on a natural, buff-colored ground. The textile has been professionally framed and triple-matted in beige, dark green, and rust-colored mattes against an acid-free background. The natural-colored, solid wood frame compliments the textile beautifully!
The framed textile measures 15" x 17", and is ready to hang! This jewel of a textile gives history and beauty to any decor, and is a true treasure of the Nazca culture. Few pre-Columbian of this great age textiles survive in such fine a condition; this 1600-year-old Nazca fragment is especially desirable for its human figures!
If you collect the best in Nazca or pre-Columbian artifacts, this museum-quality textile should be proudly displayed in your home or office! As with all of my antiquities, this item will be sold with a COA and valuation for your insurance purposes at no extra cost. (Remember that the custom framing job alone would have run well over $100!) Do not miss this splendid item; I do not expect to find another!
