Dating to ca. 1890-1900, this pair of rose-cut diamond solitaire earrings are a diamond-lover's dream come true! PLEASE take the time to view all of the photos; it will be well worth your while!

This magnificent pair of earrings are astounding for their quality and all-original condition. They are even still in their original Victorian velvet box! Each of these earrings boasts a rose-cut diamond of approx. 35 pts., but as rose-cuts, they "face up" closer to a full carat! As most collectors know, antique diamonds can not be judged according to the standards of their modern cousins, but these gemstones are comparable to a G color and VVS2 clarity!

One diamond measures 8.5 mm x 5 mm, and the other measures 8 mm x 5.5 mm - this slight variation is typical of hand-faceted diamonds, and the difference is invisible to the eye. Both of the diamonds are extra-white, and show NO carbon inclusions! One of the diamonds has a thin feather, only visible under 10x magnification. The other diamond is crystal clear!

Each of the gemstones are securely set in 6 long silver prongs, and mounted in hexagonal, silver-topped 14k gold mountings (marked and tested). The earrings measure 11.5 mm x 9 mm in their settings (25.4 mm = 1 inch). These earrings are among the first to boast butterfly screw-backs; these findings were patented in 1888, and quickly replaced hook findings. The pair of earrings weigh a feather-light 3.1 grams.

These solitaires are especially desirable for the fabulous cut and quality of the stones.
