Dating to ca. 1810-1820, this Georgian treasure of high-karat gold is positively aglow with precious gemstones! This brooch is crafted of the finest materials known to the early 19th-century lapidary, and is still fresh after nearly two centuries!

This delightful jewel really has ALL of the "bells & whistles!" The diamond-shaped brooch is mounted with a center, deep-violet amethyst of approx. 2 carats. Surrounding this stone are two luminous moonstone cabochons weighing approx. 40 pts each, four Persian turquoise cabochons measuring 2.5 - 3 mm each, and two flat-cut almandine garnets weighing approx. 8 pts. each! SO ROMANTIC!

This jewel measures 1 1/8" x 1" and weighs 4.6 grams. All of the gemstones are set in foiled, closed-back mountings with crimped, rubbed-over collets. The remainder of the brooch is a fantasy of genuine, high-karat canetille work! The gold is worked in the minutest detail, and amazingly, there are NO LOSSES or repairs! All of the gemstones are also original to the brooch. The gold is unmarked, but tests to 20k.

The reverse of the brooch retains its original gold "T and C" clasp. As with most jewelry of this era, the pin protrudes 1/8" past the brooch as a "keeper." There is also a small loop on the reverse which will allow the pin to be worn as a pendant with the simple addition of a gold jump ring!

This is the MOST colorful jewel, and it is expertly crafted! Rarely do you get so much richness and variety of texture and color in one brooch! It is the perfect size to wear on a lapel or sweater, and the 20k gold and gemstones really make it pop! Moreover, this jewel has survived the past 190 years in magnificent, untouched condition!

If you love the finest in Georgian jewelry, this canetille and jeweled brooch is a textbook, investment-quality piece that you will wear again and again! It would also make a generous holiday gift for any lady who loves the BEST in Georgian jewelry! (Or better yet, treat yourself this year; you deserve it!) Either way, do not miss this Regency delight!
