Dating to c.1940, this 14k ring is a rarity for its breathtaking color-changing gemstone, hefty gold mounting, and classic style!

As most of my clients know, I seldom deal in 20th-century jewelry, but this ring came in with some earlier pieces, and I was so impressed with the beauty of the stone that I wanted to make it available for the consideration of my Ruby Lane shoppers.

This custom-made ring is suitable for wear by a lady or a gentleman, and features a huge, 2.5 ct. round color-changing corundum solitaire! Color-changing corundum, also known as synthetic Alexandrite, is a lab-created stone which is prized for its color-changing properties, but it is rare to find a such a fine example on the market today. This stone has been lab tested by a GIA certified gemologist.

This jewel is deep blue-violet in natural daylight, but in florescent light, it changes to a bright shade of of fuchsia violet! (Under candlelight, it turns a bright cherry red!) Not all color-changing corundum stones are created equal; this example has exceptional clarity and cut, and unusually large size!

This gem is expertly faceted, and in perfect condition. It is custom-mounted in a classic Roman-style rubbed-over mounting of 14k gold which has been given a 22k gold wash (gold marked and tested). The bright glow of the gold really sets off the special qualities of this amazing stone!

Weighing in at an substantial 7.4 grams of 14k gold, this jewel is currently a size 9 1/2, but it can easily be re-sized by a competent lapidary for little cost. This ring with its unique and blazing gemstone will make a superb right hand ring for any lover of fine jewelry. It is in excellent estate condition for it's 65+ years, and the design is a classic!
