This ring features a beautifully faceted oval amethyst weighing approx. 2 carats. This stone is collect set in the foiled, closed-backed mounting typical of Georgian gemstones. Surrounding this stone are two rows of exquisite natural seed pearls! The first row of seed pearls measure approx. 1 mm each, and the outer band of pearls measure approx. 2 mm each. The total effect is one of impressive beauty!
All of the seed pearls in this ring are original - what a rarity! They are also wonderfully matched for color, and are a shade of silvery cream which perfectly harmonizes with the amethyst. The pearls are also set in pushed-up collets of 15k yellow gold with the slightest tint of rose. The surrounding bezel and shank of the ring are also 15k gold (unmarked but tested).
This ring is a size 6 1/2, but the plainness of the rear of the shank will allow for re-sizing. The bezel of this ring measures a grand 3/4" x 3/8" - large enough to impress, but not too large for the hand! This ring weighs a hefty 8.3 grams. When I first acquired this jewel, the rear of the shank had been so worn down that it had split, so my lapidary re-shanked the back of the ring - now it is as sturdy as it was when it was new! Moreover, my jeweler custom-alloyed the gold to perfectly match the setting! This does not detract from the value of this stellar jewel; if anything, it guarantees another 200 years of careful wear!
This lovely jewel is worthy of the finest collection, and it is SO beautiful on the hand! If you collect the BEST in Georgian jewelry, this ring belongs on your hand and in your collection! Do not miss this precious jewel - it is priced for quick sale!
