This is a nice hand painted porcelain figurine by the Dresden Germany Makers Scheibe Alsbach. This Piece shows one of Napoleons famous Generals Count Henri Gratien Bertrand (1773-1844). The soldier is in his full uniform and almost looks like Napoleon himself. Bertrand was aide-de-camp to the emperor from 1804, he shared the emperor's banishment to both Elba and St Helena. After Napoleon's death he returned to France, where he was appointed commandant of the Polytechnic School. The quality is very nice and the hand painting is superb. There is some Inscription in French on the bottom giving some information about the Soldier. Signed piece with the hallmark of Scheibe Alsbach. Piece measures: 9-3/4" Tall, 2-3/4" wide and 2-1/2" deep. Very good condition and there are no obvious chips, cracks or defects.
