This lovely unusual polychrome Flow Blue handled plate is in remarkably good condition. Any imperfections appear to be factory produced. There are no major condition issues. Two wee rough spots on plate edge are either very old scuffs or have always been present. Plate is 8-3/4" across including handles. Height from base to handle is 1-1/4" tall. Center of plate and has a raised ring inside 4-1/4" in diameter. Possibly a liner for waste or sauce bowl, Hong Kong pattern plate features a floral motif in deep cobalt and orange with green leaves and a bit of gilt on handles and edges. Clues to maker are numerous on back, both incised in center and under the glaze around the rim. Paper sticker attests to a former purchase in Great Britain. Incised mark shows a lion and unicorn, Opaque Granite China and W.R. & Co. One blue mark identifies pattern name; another has similar mark and reads "Imperial Stone, WRS&CO. A wonderful example of this 19th Century collectible antique Staffordshire pottery.
