This most charming antique double frame is exceptional in both form and condition. Entire piece is metal, possibly tin, including photos of baby in ornate wicker carriage and beautiful woman wearing locket and holding a rose. Photo appear to be slightly yellowed with age but there is no damage. Pastel colors are still visible especially on lady's portrait. Gilt on frame is in very good condition with minimal loss. Frames are joined by Fleur-de-Lis decorative piece on front and horizontal bar at back. Each individual frame is ornately embellished with gold-painted borders and topped with heart ornaments. Gilt on chain is worn and backs are discolored. Maker's mark: Columbia Portrait Co. Chicago. The only information found about this company refers to a gelatin silver photo process. I do not know if that process was used on this photo. Each round photo is 6" in diameter; overall width of piece is about 16" with height at tallest point almost 9". This authentic antique dates from late Victorian to Edwardian period of fashion ca. 1890 - 1915. Please email any questions.
