Empire Works Stoke-on-Trent Flow Blue Handpainted Windmill Plate

Detailed windmill scene is handpainted on this plate by the Empire Works Pottery Co. Stoke-on-Trent. The windmill sits on the shore amid the trees, a skiff anchored near the dock and off in the distance a sailboat is outlined on the horizon. Framed in cobalt blue scrolls and trimmed with gold. Marked with the blue stamp that dates it from 1896 to 1912, incised with the numbers 2 over 899 and in gold the numbers 154. It has crazing and slight discoloration, no chips or cracks. The plate measures 9" in diameter.
