Oak Fireplace Mantle with Pillars

We are pleased to be offering today this beautiful fully refinished tiger sawn oak turn of the century fireplace mantle that dates from the 1900s or earlier. It is a most unusual mantle that came out of a house which had a safe built in the wall right behind it that was only about 4 inches thick. The only way to get to the safe was to lift up the cleverly disguised hidden mirror. It has definitely been customer made over like this. It has three hinges on the top and a couple of spring latches on the base, so that when you push the mirror in it just looks like part of the mantle.

It is pretty cool. Other than the fact that millions of people of viewing this item will know this secret, it will be yours and yours only. Forget the fact that it has this cool feature, it has turn pillars, block feet, beautiful little dainty beaded molding, multi-moldings and a backsplash on top. Other than the custom adjusted mirror, everything is original. We have run this through our professional restoration shop and have applied a dark oak stain finish with multiple coats of satin sheen lacquer.

The overall size is 60 inches wide, 10 inches deep and 80 inches high. The size of the opening for the fireplace is 35.25 inches wide by 36.5 inches high. The size of the mirror is 34.5 inches wide by 17.25 inches high. It is a beautiful and great looking piece. If nothing else, it is a wonderful conversation piece.
