Walnut Carved Loin Head Gothic Server

We are pleased to be offering today this beautiful walnut heavily carved lion face claw foot gothic style server that dates from the 1920s. This beautiful piece is all case carved. The backsplash has a multiple molded crown that is 12.5 inches high; the molding itself is carved like claw feet off the end of a foot but also like bark off a tree. It is quite unique and I have never seen anything like it. Above it is the normal gothic thumbnail carving with multiple bevel edges across the top.

The top of the case has double molding edges with a thumbnail underneath that carries along the gothic lines. It has two heavy picture frame carved molded drawers with hand cut dove tail and a lion face in the center. On the bottom are two picture frame panel doors with big door knob centers, carved columns going down the posts, panel sides, wonderful deep detail carving across the base, and then wonderful claw feet that protrude out 4-5 inches. To make this piece even better, the crew at AC Antiques (Josh and Amy), did magic on this piece and it is stunning. They went over the whole thing with a dark walnut stain, re-sprayed it in a satin sheen lacquer and it came out beautiful. The overall size is 63 inches wide, 21 inches deep, 45.5 inches high to the base and 58 inches high to the top. It is a gorgeous piece that is simply stunning.
