The Currier and Ives scene (A HOME IN THE WILDERNESS) depicts father and son returning to a log cabin. The father is holding his rifle while the son leads a horse. Another little boy is skating on the pond while mother and daughter feed the chickens. The ground is snow covered and a cloud of smoke comes from the cabins chimney. A classic winter scene.
Tile is in very nice condition as is the trivet. There are some very minor rust spots on the trivet mostly in the grooves of the metal. Back of the tile has it's original foil sticker which reads "V.G. JAPAN". It is also marked CHERRY on the tile and appears to have MADE IN JAPAN (Although what I assume to be JAPAN is covered by the foil sticker.)
The trivet has 4 feet to keep it off the table surface.
Trivet measures 8 3/4 inches long and 6 inches wide (at it's longest points). The tile itself is 4 1/4 inches square.
