Pretty Victorian Lady Vintage Pyrography Handkerchief Box

Here's a pretty little burned wood box, made of lightweight poplar wood, or possibly birch. It measures 5.25" x 5.25" x 2" deep, and was made most likely as a home for precious handkerchiefs in the very late 1800's or early 1900's.

This one features a Victorian lady with upswept hair and choker surrounded by pansies on the inside and OUTside of the lid, with sprigs of pansies on each side of the box. There is fretwork along all sides of each edge as well. The hinges are made by Wizard.

These pyrography hanky boxes are wonderful collectibles, and are getting harder to find in this condition. This type of wood craft is also referred to as Poker Art, Poker Work, Burnt Wood, and Wood Etch.

These are excellent as jewelry or trinket boxes, and also work well to hold toiletries like q-tips or extra razors for your guest bathroom!
