Museum-quality French School oil painting on canvas mounted on cardboard by French painter Bernard Louis Borione (1865 - ) of a Cardinal playing the guitar while a blue parrot stands on the edge of the chair. Bernard Borione is well known for his intimate scenes of Roman Catholic clergy life (religious). The painting is signed on the upper left in black "B. Borione." Borione is listed in Benezit (Dictionnaire des Peintres, Sculpteurs, Dessinateurs et Graveurs) where details of his work appear. He was a student of his father Guillaume-Marie Borione and of the artist Evariste Luminais. Borione's paintings sell in Christie's, Sotheby's, Bonham's and other first-rate auction houses. In good used condition with restoration and minor signs of wear as shown. Please ask questions, request additional photos and shipping costs before buying.
