Beautiful pair of Satsuma plates with detailed decoration in shades of gold depicting birds, flowers and butterflies. They are marked on the underside with a gold on black cross in a circle (mon) and a Japanese character mark, possibly the artist's signature. Crackles are characteristic of Satsuma wares and part of their design. In very good used condition with minor imperfections as shown.

Measurements: 6.1" (15.5 cm) approximately. Weight: each plate weighs 0.4 lbs (200 grams).
