Antique Sarreguemines soup bowl / plate decorated with a blue floral Art Nouveau motif over ivory background. It is marked on the underside with the printed mark in blue "ROYAT, U&C, SARREGUEMINES." U&C stands for Utzschneider et Compagnie. Francois-Paul Utzschneider purchased the company from its original founders in 1800. Utzschneider had worked for Wedgwood in England. The Sarreguemines manufacture soon became known as the French Wedgwood for its fine quality and classic decoration. The company used the printed mark after 1900. This plate also has several impressed numbers. One number between 1 and 4 refers to the size (in this case 3), and the last two digits refer to the production year (in this case 28 for 1928). This listing is for a single plate but there are 8 available. In good used condition as shown with crazing and toning consistent with age. Please ask questions, request additional photos and shipping costs before bidding.
